On November 15, over 90 countries on six continents launched Global Entrepreneurship Week.
What is Global Entrepreneurship Week, you ask? From their website:
“Each November, Global Entrepreneurship Week connects millions of young people everywhere in a growing movement designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. Students, educators, entrepreneurs, business leaders, employees, non-profit leaders, government officials and many others participate: to think big — and to turn their ideas into reality.”
To celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, we surveyed 25,000 online businesses to discover some interesting trends (see the first page below).
Some interesting findings:
– The average “serial entrepreneur” has 3 online businesses.
– American entrepreneurs outsell Canadians by around $8 per transaction. (Can’t blame the dollar anymore!)
– The average online sale is worth $156.62.
– The typical repeat customer averages 3 purchases a year.
– The best time to sell online is between 11am and 2pm Pacific Time.

Also, a big congratulations to our buddies at Grasshopper Group. In May, they began a movement petitioning the President to create a day to recognize and celebrate entrepreneurs. This week (and thousands of signatures later), President Obama proclaimed Friday, November 19th as the first National Entrepreneurs’ Day:
“NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim November 14 through November 20, 2010, as National Entrepreneurship Week. I call upon all Americans to commemorate this week with appropriate programs and activities, and to celebrate November 19, 2010, as National Entrepreneurs’ Day.”
