At CityMax.com, we love to stay active and healthy. We also love hockey, so when our employees suggested a lunchtime street hockey game, it was a no-brainer…

We split up into two teams and played 4-on-4 over lunchtime - only pausing for cars just like when we were kids. Dozens of passerbys stopped to watch, our friends from the GastownBlog joined in, and there was even a goal judging crew and a siren!

Now we’re issuing an open challenge to any tech company (Vancouver or elsewhere) to stop by and take us on. Are you up for it? Email Patrick@CityMax.com to set up a game - bring your team and take your best (slap)shot!

The name ClassicShaving.com might sound familiar – they were our Website of the Month winners for July.

Since then, they’ve had another big win. They managed to be listed on the front page of Reddit!

Reddit is a link sharing service where readers can submit links, then vote them up or down the page. The most highly voted links get to the top of the list, or on the front page, and typically see a massive increase in traffic – something every website owner loves.

ClassicShaving’s Reddit listing increased their daily unique visitors from 2,500 to 16,000 in 24 hours (with 334 reader comments)!

In business, knowledge is power. That’s why we’ve refreshed your Dashboard to include some great new features that are designed to teach you how to get the most out of your website!

On the left side of the Dashboard, you’ll find Website University. Website University is a video learning program that will teach you all about your website, beginning with the basics.

We’ve launched Website University with the Getting Started course, which teaches introductory things like adding text and images. From there, we’ll be adding more courses that will help you with more advanced tools.

The new Library section, on the right of the Dashboard, includes articles about everything from hiring tips to money management.

There are a few more new features on there, so feel free to play around a bit and see what’s new!

Do you love Google Maps?

So do we! That’s why our maps page type helps you easily add a Google map directly on your website.

When you add a new Maps page, just click ‘Add Location’ on the editing page. Enter the location details and a Google map will be created automatically and placed on your page beside the address. Your customers can also click links to open the map in Google or even get directions from their location to yours!

To check it out, just sign in to your website, then click ‘ADD PAGE’ -> ‘Maps’.

This week Clarence, who we told you about in our last post, flew to SIFE’s National Competition to compete with his fellow members. The SIFE members are judged on the projects they’ve created, and Clarence’s program with CityMax.com has landed him in the semi-finals!
